Meet the dogs behind the mission

Meet Greysen.

My foster pup, who found his way into my heart. This pup is the inspiration for Grey’s Spot! He came to us at 8 years old with what we were told was a minimal heart murmur. He was a stray for most of his life, but when he did have a home, he was abused or given up on, so we knew he would need lots of love and lots of patience. We got this guy on a high-quality diet and some supplements, and he started to thrive, but we still felt like something was off as he continued to struggle with various health issues. Over time, we realized he had a LOT more health issues than we were told, and his health was getting worse. One night, it had become clear that it was all too much for his little body to handle, so we had taken him to an emergency vet. After some bad news about his condition, we made the decision to let him rest. Technically, he is my first foster fail, even though we didn’t plan on keeping him. My family and I were constantly trying new things and looking into different options for him (with a vet and holistically), which led my interest in pet nutrition/supplements to skyrocket. I learned so much about so many different things, and thought that it should be put in one place for more people to know. That’s when the idea of Grey’s Spot was born!

Meet Winston.

My old man! We found Winston in a shelter almost 2 hours away from our house, but we just knew we had to meet him. (#adoptdontshop!) When we got Winston, he was 7 years old and had been living as an outdoor dog for an older gentleman who wasn’t taking great care of him. Once we got him home, you could tell he felt more at peace than he had been in a while. My old man started to go through some GI issues, which led us to discover that he has Cushing’s. After some trial and error, we found a diet that works great for him, but I was constantly looking into holistic ways to enhance his health. He’s now 12 years old and was recently diagnosed with heart failure, but you wouldn’t know it just by looking at him. He’s sassy and spunky and the perfect match for our family’s energy. He LOVES his treats, so of course nickname became Wonton!

Meet Gretta Mae.

My first ever dog and the reason I got into pet nutrition! Gretta was found running on the side of the highway, covered in shaggy hair and fleas. We immediately fell in love with her, and soon enough, she felt comfortable showing us all her schnauzer attitude. One night, on a walk, Gretta and my mom were attacked by 2 other unsupervised dogs. These dogs were much larger than my girl Gretta and had latched on to both sides of her body. She had pretty deep puncture wounds and needed a handful of stitches, but this brave girl made it through! While she was healing, she started to develop cysts where she was attacked that didn’t seem to go away, no matter how many medications, acupuncture, or anything else at the vet we tried. That’s when I started to research holistic pet health and why nutrition is so important. After changing her food to a high-quality diet and trying different supplements, her inflammation started to decrease, and over time, her cysts completely disappeared. Now she’s super spoiled and lives her best life bossing us all around (as she should!).

So, what’s the mission?

My mission with Grey’s Spot is to educate pet parents and advocate for the animals that need it. Learning about pet nutrition can be intimidating but it’s so worth it to learn. There are a lot of conflicting opinions and old methods being taught to vets and pet parents that make it hard to choose what to believe. Holistic pet health can make the biggest difference with just about any issue but the most important thing to do for your pet is to do your own research. Grey’s Spot is the place I want people to be able to find easily consumable pet information to unlock your pets full potential (and one day be the place to shop for them too)!
