Bath time and after care

Brushes & Combs

It’s important to brush your pet at home, even if you regularly see a groomer! You should be brushing weekly, if not every day (depending on the breed).

(TIP – for doodles/haircut dogs, look up how to line brush)

Nail trim/grinds

It’s important to trim/grind nails regularly! (A groomer or a vet will be able to do this for you, too.) You can help your pet get used to this by playing with their paws, using a soft vibration around their paws, trimming/grinding regularly, etc. (TIP – If you get too close to the quick, use septic powder or corn starch to stop the bleeding!)

Shampoo & Conditioner

A good shampoo and conditioner should leave your pet feeling and looking great! Certain ingredients in low-quality shampoos/conditioners can dry out their skin & coat, change their PH, increase itchiness, etc.

My favorite brands are Skout’s Honor, Bark2Basics, and, for allergy-prone skin, Zymox.

(TIP – use a detangler to help brush and keep your pet smelling good! You can also use a (pet-safe) leave-in conditioner!)
